Professional Services Junior Consultant - North America at Lightbend

We are looking for a talented individual with strong technical aptitude and growing people skills to join our Professional Services team. Our team helps our customers make full use of the Lightbend products, including the Lightbend Reactive Platform and the Fast Data Platform.


  • Advise, assist and support software developers, architects, product and business owners to evolve architectures and design solutions in conjunction with the greater Lightbend team.
  • Consult with clients in mid-size to large organizations to integrate elements of the Lightbend stack into their environment.
  • Actively develop software using Java, Scala, Akka, Lagom and Play Framework and related technologies.
  • Enable our clients to successfully design and implement software solutions based on the Reactive Platform through prototypes, examples, proofs-of-concept, workshops, pairing, code reviews, etc.
  • Opportunity to travel extensively.
  • Learn from and work with the team that builds the Reactive and Fast Data Platforms directly, solving real-world challenges in the field every day!

Candidates can live anywhere in North America. This is much more than a coding position - we are looking for the right individuals to work directly with our most important clients in an advisory and consultative role.



  • are familiar with and advocate for the Lightbend Reactive Platform; Scala, Akka, Play, Java
  • have an understanding of distributed architecture and functional programming concepts.
  • are a voracious learner, ready to take on new technologies and techniques quickly and constantly.
  • have excellent written and verbal communication skills in at least English.
  • are skillful at interacting and working with people; working with a self-organized lean and agile team to mitigate project risks, manage effort and ensure quality.
  • are dedicated to best practices such as automated testing, code reviews, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
  • are biased towards action on tough problems and issues, and focused on your client's success.
  • are an agent of change, constantly learning and seeking better outcomes.
  • are passionate about enabling others to adopt new technologies.
  • hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • be a U.S. or Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
