Manager, Accounting at Turo

Turo is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our fast-growing team to manage our financial reporting processes and help us develop efficient accounting flows. This role is an integral part of the Finance Organization, ensuring we can provide timely and accurate financial statements to our management team, Board of Directors and investors. You will be responsible for managing all areas relating to month-end close, year-end audit preparation, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the month, quarter, and year-end close procedures, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, analysis of results, close calendar and close reporting package
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for more complex areas of accounting, such as equity and intercompany transactions
  • Own monthly consolidation and ensure compliance with policies
  • Partner closely with external auditors and manage the year-end audit
  • Create operational and process efficiencies to help us scale and ensure financial reporting accuracy
  • Proactively identify issues and areas for improvement within the close process and implement process improvements
  • Research technical accounting issues and perform analysis as needed
  • Lead, mentor, and provide support to a team of 3 (one senior accountant and two staff accountants)
  • Assist with review of Payables and other areas as directed by the Controller
  • Help establish and maintain financial policies and procedures
  • Perform other special projects and analyses as directed by management

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years of Big 4 public accounting firm experience;
  • Mix of start-up and public company experience preferred; IPO experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls
  • Excellent organization skills and can handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, high growth environment
  • Disciplined self-starter and team player with the ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organization
  • Possesses passion, energy and enthusiasm to drive results; action oriented
  • Extremely detail oriented but yet possesses an understanding of the "big picture”
  • Experience managing a team
  • Strong systems knowledge, including the ability to quickly learn new systems and is able to identify ways to automate processes
  • Must have the ability to proactively and creatively approach problem solving in order to execute multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Must strong written and oral communications skills
  • Commitment to values of integrity, accountability and transparency
  • Knowledge of NetSuite a plus
