Who we need

A Senior Android Developer to be the first on the team in Toronto and work closely with a counterpart in California. We need someone with the technical chops and a pitch-in-wherever-I’m-needed approach. Someone who is excited to tackle complex mobile challenges, build new solutions, continuously iterate and set the standard the iOS team has to keep up with. You might have a few years of experience working in start-ups without the runway to expand. Or, you have been rapidly creating apps on assignment through an agency where you don’t see the impact your work makes. Either way, this is an opportunity for a Senior Android Developer to make a difference, grow and be challenged. It’s a chance to architect, build and scale our Android app for our product pipeline from user experience to insurance data reconciliation and reporting.

We need a Senior Android Developer who wants to work side-by-side with the design team to make pretty apps with smooth transitions and instantaneous responsiveness. Someone with a consumer focus.

As our new Senior Android Developer, you have:

  • The experience. You have several years of hands-on experience with RxJava building photo, social media or other real-time data retrieving apps. You have expertise with Android camera APIs. Unit testing is second nature to you for all of your features. You have strong opinions on code structure and can talk intelligently about the tradeoffs between MVVM, MVP, RIBLET architectures. You may have exposure developing with Ruby and iOS.
  • The passion. You are committed to building and scaling user-focused mobile applications. You want to make a difference and see the impact of what you do working on mission-critical systems.
  • The collaboration and communication skills. You enjoy working as part of a team and can discuss architecture across platforms and the look and feel with the designers. You have outstanding oral and written skills. You can translate business to technical and vice versa easily. You are comfortable working with stakeholders at any level.
