Job Description:

We're looking for a Corporate Controller who can improve financial and strategic decision making across the company through driving the development of the financial operations strategy, reporting and risk management functions of the company. The position reports to the CFO.

  • Direct and manage the financial close process and preparation of Nextdoor's financial statements and financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and best business practices while meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Develop management reporting, analysis and commentary that provides senior leaders with timely insights into trends, operational results, growth and cost drivers
  • Monitor current trends in regulations and among our company peer group related to accounting and reporting issues and provide guidance on technical accounting decisions and associated documentation
  • Develop and implement effective systems, accounting policies and financial controls which maintain the integrity of all financial transactions and reporting of the company
  • Help to build culture of efficient controls for scalability, revenue assurance and compliance while driving improvements in process and automation in the accounting organization as the business scales
  • Develop positive relationships with the business functions with the goal of being a valued business advisor.
  • Perform and oversee treasury duties such as monitoring cash balances and forecasts and FX positions and exposure. Executing the investment transactions in accordance with the Company’s Investments Policy and administration of the Company’s insurance programs
  • Manage the quarterly and annual external audit and 409A process
  • Oversee disbursement activities, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and employee expense reports
  • Oversee billing activities to ensure proper revenue recognition and accurate and timely invoicing and collections
  • Ensure the company maintains regulatory and GAAP compliance with all corporate income and sales tax requirements. Manage international tax optimization strategy
  • Identify and review all material contracts for financial impact and appropriate tax and accounting treatment

The successful candidate will have a passion for building a first-class organization and can lead and manage by example, be able to create an inspiring vision for the finance accounting team and believe strongly in mentoring a professional team capable of driving successful business decisions. 


  • 10+ years with a mix of Big 4 and industry experience in a prior Corporate Controller role
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead strong financial and accounting teams. You know how to lead through change and are motivated by the challenge of a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • SEC reporting experience
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of GAAP, current trends and developments
  • Industry (social media, digital advertising, consumer internet, technology), IPO and international experience highly valued
  • NetSuite ERP system experience. Implementation experience highly valued. Strong Excel skills required
