The Group
Our Acquisition and International Group’s mission is to ensure everyone around the globe discovers Canva across a range of channels, in every market, and on every device. Our Operations team works to solve company challenges alongside a range of teams, including product, quality assurance, talent acquisition, finance and customer service.
We are looking for a Business Operations Associate to help bring operational excellence to Group and its constituent teams so we are able to hit our incredibly ambitious goals as a company.

What you'll do:

  • Proactively discover, then action solutions to key business operational problems: these challenges could range from partnering with Group Operations to understand where which teams we should grow hiring in, to working with Finance to determine how effectively our Group’s teams are tracking to financial or growth targets, and how we could optimise our bug triaging and escalation process alongside Quality Assurance. Your role is not only to consult on a recommended approach but to formulate and deliver an implementation to those strategies with the team.
  • Improve Group business processes and systems: as Canva is growing at an exponential pace, we are constantly needing to redefine how our teams work and how our work gets done. A core part of this role is owning operational systems and processes improvements to ensure our teams scale up smoothly. This could be, for example, creating measurements to evaluate interoffice collaboration, then proactively and thoughtfully implementing solutions to improve those key metrics.
  • Bring operational excellence to our product delivery: as the Group in charge of bringing the next set of a million users into Canva, you will partner with growth and international teams to ensure our teams stay fully informed of key product developments in Sydney, and work with the Group Operations team to ensure product development is on track and progressing. These development efforts may include launching Canva Print in a new market, or introducing a new feature specific to a particular market such as our recently launched China product.
  • Drive team analytics, cadences and reporting: with our amazing Canva teams growing across various geographies, you will help keep international colleagues and counterparts up-to-date with relevant information relating to growth or product initiatives impacting their quarterly goals.

What we're looking for:

  • Preferred Bachelor or Master in a quantitative degree program, such as Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Science or Finance.
  • Preferred 2+ years previous experience in a professional services role, such as accounting, consulting, finance, or operations within a startup, internet or tech company.
  • You’re incredibly analytical and data driven: You’re comfortable in Excel, working with analytics platforms and drawing insights from data, as evidenced by your previous experiences in work.
  • You’re highly proactive, taking charge to find new problems in the absence of tasks being assigned. You are known for your initiative and ability to get things done, even when the best path forward is unclear.
  • You thrive in solving a range of problems in ambiguous circumstances, being open to responsibility shifts and changing circumstances as Canva grows and evolve.
  • You’re a strong communicator: being comfortable delivering your insights and requests online and in-person to teams across Canva.
