As a company with design so central to its DNA, our design teams play an integral part in the vision and success of our company. One of our goals as a company is to make Canva a household name across the globe and that involves reaching out to all our users – existing and potential, to get to know Canva, our last products, features, and releases. This involves team work collaboratively to create and implement integrated communications strategies generating buzz and awareness of Canva.
 
With this goal, we are looking for a Graphic Designer who will be part of theCommunications Design team whose main mission is to create visually creative designs that will promote and advertise Canva’s product and releases to the users leading to revenue and user acquisition and retention.
 
As our Graphic Designer, you will work collaboratively across different teams both in Manila and Sydney, and you will have in-depth knowledge across Canva’s design and tech DNA. You’ll be able to distill complex ideas into visceral imagery and tell compelling and emotive stories through design. You will be flexible in your time and thinking, willing to contribute to new and exciting ideas, and feel comfortable taking on multiple projects at once.

About the candidate...

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating your passion for designing clean, elegant, and beautiful designs
  • Has an eye for current aesthetic trends, and understands how popular culture works and shapes society’s visual language
  • Has a strong stylistic approach. Beyond trends, this designer should have a strong foundation in what makes a good design, based on design principles and elements.
  • Visualizes various unique design combinations from a set of pre-selected components
  • Understands user thinking and interaction to improve usability
  • Efficiently delivers output, maintains cadences, if not streamlining processes.
  • Exhibits diligence in delivering output whether through design or quality assurance
  • Effectively communicates and articulates ideas and challenges/blockers
  • Thinks on their feet and applies learnings and improvement initiatives on the fly
  • Proactively engages in team initiatives and can work with very minimal supervision and offer suggestions to streamline and improve the processes.
  • Advanced design sense and mastery of hand illustration, typography, color, conceptual graphic design, and layout creation
  • Up-to-date knowledge of various design mediums, and how best to leverage them.
 
We are looking for a designer who has the confidence to try new things and a passion for big ideas and storytelling! While we won’t be taking any blood samples, we’d love to see some Startup DNA – you will need to be flexible, pragmatic, strategic, tenacious, and take ownership of deliverables and outcomes – ya gotta have hustle!

As our Graphic Designer, you will...

  • Produce engaging visual content with the Communications Design team which will include a variety of assets and collaterals for email messaging that will be released to Canva’s users.
  • Create design assets like illustrations, vectors, color palettes, GIFs and other types of rich media for design work as needed by the key projects and teams.
  • Design and layout presentations and templates using Canva and other creative suite that will fit  Canva’s email messaging campaigns.
  • Curate photos and templates from Canva’s marketplace library and incorporate it into your designs and collaterals.
  • Work alongside different teams in Canva and be open to creative and constructive feedback and look at new design styles and formats to support wider communications campaigns.
  • Active participation in brainstorms and other idea-generating sessions.
  • Liaise with other teams internally to align on brand guidelines.
  • Support the team’s scalability through documentation and process improvement.
