Technical Test Engineer/ QA at Canva

We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join our team in Beijing. This person will work closely with our Engineers, Product and Quality Assistance teams to continually improve Canva by  providing timely, actionable feedback to our product and engineering teams and contribute to our goal of happy users. This role will involve all aspects of QA, including writing automating test cases, maintaining test infrastructure, analysing user behaviour and implementing best practices in software testing.

Responsibilities

  • Own quality of the China product from a user perspective by regular updates to dev team on major user issues and see them through fixes all the way back into to user communication.
  • Main point of contact for all issues raised on our China product or by our China team
  • Feature and exploratory testing of Canva features across web and mobile
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and different teams across Canva
  • Help build a test automation roadmap by identifying automatable scenarios
  • Contribute in a thorough test suite to provide maximum test coverage to Canva’s apps
  • Help diagnose issues raised by the Support Team
  • Coordinate with third party vendors performing manual tests

What we’re looking for

  • Good understanding of software development basics, the tenets of testing and an eye for detail
  • Someone who is technically savvy, is able to automate trivial tasks using a scripting language like Bash or Python comfortably
  • Somebody who can understand and debug code if not write it
  • Ability to query databases and reporting systems using SQL or similar
  • Experience using JIRA, New Relic, Amplitude, Sensors Data or similar
  • Good understanding of Software Architecture
  • Great exploratory testing skills and a self starting attitude
  • Ability to coordinate tasks and self prioritise
  • Strong communicator who can work closely with remote test vendors & our team in both Beijing & Sydney
 
Nice to have:
  • Prior experience with BDD style gherkin syntax
