Support Engineer at Color Genomics

Color is looking for a talented engineer to join our team and help us provide the best experience for people who are using Color to learn more about their health. In this cross-functional role, you’ll be working together with customer support, product, and engineering teams to resolve and prevent technical issues, improve our product experience, support technical third-party integrations, and improve the product knowledge of our teams.
 
As connector and problem-solver with technical skills, you have the opportunity to work on a wide range of challenges that the support team faces, touching different parts of the product and technology stacks, and working with our talented multi-disciplinary team to develop your skills in debugging, communication, product, and customer experience.

Your role
 
  • You’ll grow a deep understanding of Color products, workflows, and systems. You know how our systems work behind the scenes to help others when they run into any technical issues.
  • You work independently to unravel technical issues reported by our users or our internal teams and will work together with the engineering, support, and product teams to understand, prioritize, and help resolve these issues.
  • Working with the engineering and product teams, you document new and existing technical features, to improve the efficiency of our internal teams and enable streamlined external integrations. 
  • You help us improve the quality of our product and amplify the voice of our customers.
  • Leveraging data, tools, and other sources of user feedback to identify user experience themes, prioritize issues, and communicate key takeaways to shape product direction.
  • Identify key metrics to track common issues to help prioritize the roadmap for product, engineering, and data science.
  • Participating in the design and testing of new products and offerings to minimize potential issues.
 
Requirements
 
  • You like solving puzzles.
  • You’re innately curious: you enjoy being exposed to new techniques and technologies, and you’re excited to learn from both senior engineers as well as genetics/lab/scientific experts.
  • You're comfortable (but not fluent) reading Python code. You can write SQL queries and have familiarity with cloud environments like AWS, modern web frameworks like Django, and frontend JavaScript frameworks. You're familiar with modern web standards (HTML, CSS).
  • You maintain a high bar for quality of documentation/process and work to eliminate unnecessary duplication and awkward workarounds. You're passionate about rigorous analysis.
  • You are intrinsically motivated, able to execute projects independently (while receiving mentorship/guidance from your manager and peers).
  • Ability to effectively synthesize, visualize, and communicate your ideas to others, both in written and face-to-face communication. 
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
