The Program Manager will be responsible for the continuous planning, execution and measurement of the VECTOR-R program plan, through management and direction of assigned resources across Launch Engineering, Manufacturing and Launch Operations. He/she will also serve as leader to a team of other project managers supporting related business areas. This role is for a dynamic, self-starting individual with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position located at our facility in Huntington Beach, CA, with periodic travel to our Arizona Test Site (ATS) near Tucson, AZ and Manufacturing facility in Tucson, AZ.

A typical day might include the following:

  • Communicate with senior leadership to capture overall VECTOR-R program priorities, business objectives and external requirements that may influence VECTOR-R program execution strategy;
  • Translate program goals into a realizable program plan with clear milestones, measurable deliverables and a recognition of program-level risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, scheduling, supply chain, manufacturing, quality and test personnel to prioritize, communicate and maintain execution schedules that meet internal milestones.
  • Produce and present standard reporting for program health metrics (schedule and budget variance to plan, resource issues, performance risk and Voice of the Customer)
  • Work with functional leads to resolve and prioritize personnel assignments against planned and ongoing tasks; communicate resource risks and propose resolution to senior functional leadership.
  • Produce and actively manage a risk and opportunities program; engage both internal and external stakeholders to describe, quantify, track and mitigate risks and exploit opportunities
  • Train and mentor associate staff assigned to program management teams; monitor execution of tasks by other project managers and provide guidance on best practices to employ.

This job might be for you if you have these:

  • B.S. in Aerospace/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent is required
  • 5+ Years of directly relevant experience managing technical program teams in Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, maritime, or related fields
  • 3+ years’ experience managing hardware development programs with annual operating budgets exceeding $10MM
  • Experience in program planning, establishment of milestones and associated deliverables, and definition of WBS reporting structures
  • Experience in the development and active management of program risk registers
  • Strong proficiency in MS Project, including interpretation, reporting of and revisions to GANTT, PERTT and networking charts
  • MS Office in a Windows environment
  • Willing to travel <10% annually to Tucson, AZ facility to support program reviews and customer engagement.
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 25 lbs (unassisted)
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed

It would be impressive if you also have these:

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field within aerospace, aviation or automotive is preferred.
  • PMP or similar certification for professional program management
  • Extensive experience managing, leading and directing large teams (>50) of engineers, operations and other support personnel in an active manufacturing, integration and test environment
  • Demonstrable track record of deliverable complex hardware systems within budget, schedule and performance constraints
  • Prior experience managing a launch vehicle or spacecraft development program
  • BIG vision to reshape the multi-billion launch market
  • Ability to work as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Ability to add something unique and positive to our team
