Powered by a family of awarding winning apps, the Smule community of 50M monthly active users plays and sings over 20 million songs a day on their mobile phones, uploading over 2M of those songs to the growing Smule network.  On a typical day, Smule stores over 30 terabytes of user generated content in the cloud. Smule has the largest social graph for music on the internet.

We’re looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial product leader to drive Smule’s innovation efforts on product and technology.  Smule organizes its product, design and engineering teams into squads. The successful candidate will work closely with Mary Yang, Smule’s Chief Product Officer, to define product innovation strategy and launch new products.

 

Role / Responsibilities

  • Develop interesting feature or product proposals that have impact potential
  • Creatively assess initiatives with the business stakeholders, clarifying the business case, and developing metrics. Have a vision for how it could develop over time
  • Develop proof of concept and testing to validate market opportunity
  • Owns and drives quarterly and annual product planning at squad or team level
  • Run a squad with cross-functional team members via agile process
  • Articulates product vision that excites and inspires team members and partners
  • Build collaborative relationships with other teams

 

Requirements

  • At least 5 years experience in a growing consumer mobile/web business, with a track record of delivering at least one high-impact product launch
  • Experience building new features or products for social networks, user-generated content platforms or Live broadcasting platforms strongly preferred
  • Relevant experience in software engineering, product design, audio/video or marketing strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead cross functionally and influence stakeholders in design, engineering and marketing.
  • Strong quantitative orientation; uses data and metrics to make sound product decisions; experience defining and directing product initiatives based upon quantitative info and qualitative feedback.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with business and technical people.
  • Previous technical experience required either as a developer or undergraduate technical degree.
