We need an outstanding Senior Sales Engineer to support our Sales Executives and Partners to continue our growth in the DACH region.

 The Role

Sales Engineers provide technical expertise to stakeholders spanning all levels of the customer organization. They enable our customers to make well-informed decisions about technology selection and adoption.

The creative application of Lucidworks technology is a key aspect of this role, providing scope for innovation and lateral thinking. This is a challenging, entrepreneurial position where your soft skills and technical skills will both be critical to your success. Previous experience with search software, machine learning, data analytics, Hadoop, Spark and/or BI is required, along with 5+ years of experience in a pre-sales engineering role in one or more of these fields. Knowledge of Solr is a major plus.


Our Sales Engineers work very closely with our outside sales organization and will often be the first interaction customers have with our technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for making strong first impressions with customers and providing professional consultative guidance.

You will need to anchor all the technical aspects of the sales process — including qualification, solution design and when necessary proof exercises to validate the solution. With support from the EMEA team, you will be expected to take the lead in engaging with clients in your region, especially in technical execution such as Proofs of Concept and pilot projects.

The Sales Engineering team also has responsibility for the continuous improvement of our products and processes, challenging you to stay abreast of emerging technologies and contribute information and expertise to the product team.

Lucidworks has a growing partner network across Europe and you will be active in engaging with new and existing partners to leverage their expertise and enable them to execute.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Based in Germany and willing to travel, predominantly within the DACH region
  • Fluent in German and English
  • S. (or equivalent) or higher in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years experience as a Sales Engineer
  • Proven excellence in delivering technical presentations and product demonstrations
  • Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly
  • Ability to communicate business impact and value
  • General knowledge of algorithm and machine learning concepts General knowledge of search systems, Hadoop, Spark, or BI systems
  • Comfortable working with both Linux and Windows Server
  • Ability to read/modify scripts or simple code, e.g. Python, Scala, JavaScript, BASH, and Windows PowerShell
