Social Media Senior Manager at Nextdoor

The Nextdoor Communications and Policy team is seeking a talented social media expert to join our team in the role of Social Media Senior Manager.  

Nextdoor’s Social Media Senior Manager will work across a variety of digital platforms to communicate Nextdoor’s value locally, nationally and internationally and provide social strategy and design support to elevate Nextdoor’s brand globally. The role is responsible for creating original text, photography and video content, managing posts and responding to followers, in addition to cultivating and growing Nextdoor’s digital image. The successful candidate will be well versed in the latest digital technologies and social media trends, exhibit excellent communication skills, and excel at expressing our company’s vision and priorities creatively. Expanding Nextdoor’s social media presence and awareness with increased web traffic and member engagement on relevant platforms will be a constant focus in this role.

Reporting to Nextdoor’s Head of Communications and Policy, this important role requires collaboration with marketing, business development, international, and other Nextdoor colleagues to promote the company’s priorities.

Responsibilities:

Execute social media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities including:

  • Develop Nextdoor’s global social media strategy and outline annual editorial calendar
  • Develop relevant content topics to reach the company’s target customers
  • Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, video and written)
  • Develop social campaigns to engage new audiences and increase followers/traffic
  • Develop and expand community and/or influencer outreach efforts
  • Oversee design of social assets (ie: Facebook timeline cover, profile pic, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, blog, etc.)
  • Manage the Nextdoor Blog, including editorial calendar and content
  • Design, create and manage paid promotions and social ad campaigns
  • Analyze key metrics and adjust strategy as needed
  • Compile reports for the management team, displaying results and necessary actions
  • Respond and assist customer support-related inquiries on social channels in a timely fashion
  • Help raise visibility for Nextdoor’s global brand

Requirements:

  • Professional with 6+ years experience in communications or related field
  • BA/BSA degree in journalism, communications or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Basic skill level in design tools, like Photoshop, InDesign or Sketch
  • Expert understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest etc.), their respective participants, and how each platform can be utilized globally to benefit Nextdoor
  • In-depth knowledge of the blogging ecosystem relevant to the company’s field
  • Technical understanding with the ability to develop new skills quickly
  • Working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research and Google Analytics. Highly knowledgeable in the principles of “Search and Social”
  • Ability to thrive as a self-starter in a fast-paced, changing environment
