About the team
The finance team’s mission is to protect and serve Canva and its key stakeholders; that is protecting Canva from external pressures and risks whilst balancing the need to best serve our teams.
 
The vision is for Canva to be recognised and commended by it’s peers and stakeholders as having a world-class finance team.

About you:
As the finance teams duties and activities continue to develop and expand to support the growth of the business across multiple geographies there is now a requirement for a dedicated Finance Manager to help support the external reporting and compliance activities.
The primary role of the Finance Manager is to take responsibility for the preparation of quarterly reporting obligations under US GAAP and IFRS, liaise with key stakeholders to identify and document areas of technical accounting compliance, manage all audit visits end to end and work with the Financial Controller on select strategic initiatives. The role will expand over time to include more strategic thinking and initiatives such as process improvement and IPO readiness.
We’re a fast moving business so change is frequent, you’ll be comfortable working in a hands on, dynamic environment and have excellent communication & negotiation skills.

What you'll do:

  • Reporting to the Financial Controller, the core responsibilities of the role include:
  • Ownership, preparation and improvement of the quarterly reporting process.
  • Preparation of all investor reportingIdentification and documentation of all technical accounting positions in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assistance with the year-end close and audit visits.
  • Ownership of revenue recognition accounting and management of systems working with key stakeholders and service providers.
  • Ownership and completion of all global corporate reporting obligations.
  • Working with service providers in various locations including Australia, Germany, USA, Philippines and China.
  • Assist the Tax Manager with tax related initiatives.
  • Assist the wider team with process improvement initiatives.
  • Directly manage and work collaboratively with a team of accountants in Philippines, China and Australia.

  • At least 5 years professional experience in a corporate or commercial environment;
  • CA/CPA qualified or equivalent qualification;
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • Self motivated with a desire to learn and improve your understanding of accounting and regulation across the globe;
  • Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and within set deadlines, and;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • SaaS industry experience.
  • US GAAP experience.
  • Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) experience.
