Sr. Operations Manager at Fetch Robotics

The Sr. Operations Manager holds the responsibility of directly managing and holding accountable all of the suppliers (including internal Fetch) in the Manufacturing Operations Supply Chain. This includes Contract Manufacturers (CM), Original Design Manufacturer (ODM), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Fulfillment Partners, and Component Distribution Suppliers. This candidate will manage Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, Production and New Product Introduction, Test Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Control, Direct Order Fulfillment, Reverse logisticsWarranty Operations and Sales Order Operations. 

The Sr. Operations Manager will perform cost analysis for all operations areas including but not limited to; liability associated with engineering changes, electrical mechanical, sheet-metal/machined, PCBA, power, memory, storage, and service costs (labor/fulfillment, mark-up/profits/general OpEx). This candidate will monitor the cost, schedule, and scope of work of assigned suppliers to negotiate highest quality at best value. Will also develop new supply sources for cost savings, alternative sourcing, flexibility, or new technology requirements. As required, will program manage transitions due to supplier realignment or strategic outsourcing needs.

The Sr. Operations Manager will interact closely with leaders for both internal and external business requirements. Responsible for measuring/managing Operations against service level requirements and commercial terms. Measures and reports performance  against those SLAs with direct ownership of improvement in the areas of cost, execution, and reliability via business management and quarterly business reviews. 

The Sr. Operations Manager will be the main point of contact between contract manufacturer and fulfillment partners and Fetch Robotics with responsibilities for end to end operations. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist with managing, developing, documenting, and auditing processes where process do not exist or enhance existing process all operations areas; order operations, procurement, manufacturing operations (production, test/manufacturing engineering, quality control), document control, inventory control, logistics, and warranty operations.
  • Manage workforce minimizing manufacturing operations costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, & capital which ensures the most effective return on investment (OpEx/CapEx).
  • Assist Sr. management in the development & formulation of objectives that meet organizational strategic imperatives. 
  • Assure attainment of business objectives, production schedules, and order operations while ensuring product standards & quality standards that will exceed our customers’ expectations. 
  • Manage service provider and distribution supply chain to agreed service levels (SLA’s) and commercial terms through daily interaction, metrics management, and face to face operations/business reviews.
  • Drive strategic commodity sourcing and management of key materials suppliers and components to support Product and Accessory demand plans/sales orders resulting in; risk averse, lean-time component management, AVL (approved vendor list) expansion to increase flexibility/surge capacity, advantageous component life-cycle management, & transformation/materials costs reductions. 
  • Drive engagements between contract manufacturer & Tier 1 distribution partners to leverage global spend/relationship as it relates to cost, quality, technology alignment, surge capacity, right of return privileges & delivery. 
  • Facilitate & manage execution against forecast, supply flexibility, demand triggered backlog & reconcile unable to ship issues to limit P&L bottom-line impact. 
  • Measure manufacturing operations & supply chain performance to BIC (Best in Class) standards with cost, quality, delivery, life-cycle analysis & technology alignment. 
  • Establish/maintain contractual commercial terms/ supplier agreements; manufacturing service agreements (MSA), design service agreements (DSA), statements of work (SOW), & supplier award letters (SAWL).
  • Manage material planning/inventory/E&O through reporting/metrics to ensure sufficient material supply, as well as good inventory control/practices to minimize potential E&O cost reducing liabilities/risk. 
  • Manage component data integrity: lead-time reduction, NCNR (non-cancelable non-returnable) approval/elimination, MOQ (minimum order quantity) management & cost.
  • Flexibility: ensure manufacturing operations have sufficient capacity, resources, equipment/capital, for every product stage from NPI to production.
  • Establish and maintain quarterly pricing (COGs, transformation cost, mark-up/profit) through SAWL (supplier award letter process).
  • Special projects and assignments as required by management not noted above.

  • B.S. degree in manufacturing, supply chain, business management or related field.
  • Requires 10+ years related experience in the fields of materials supply chain management, electronics manufacturing, order operations, and warranty operations. 
  • Experience working for or managing contract manufacturing operations.
  • Strong operational, technical, process improvement, and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and prioritize based on Operational objectives.
  • Ability to concisely state an issue at varying levels of detail depending on the audience.
  • Experienced in utilizing appropriate tools/software (i.e. doc control, ERP, MRP systems, Microsoft Office Products & google mail/ google docs) to effectively manage planning/supply chain activities as required. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate internally and externally to develop partnerships with key stakeholders is required.  
  • Six sigma/lean experience and certification preferred.
