Manufacturing Lead Engineer, Hardware Team at Starsky Robotics

The Hardware team at Starsky is responsible for the development and production of the sensors and systems that are installed on a tuck to allow our software system to operate the vehicle autonomously.  The Hardware team has end-to-end responsibility for engineering the vehicle systems, sourcing components, selecting vendors, and managing the production and installation on our fleet of trucks. 
 
 
Day-to-day responsibilities
 
Engage with industrial design, product development, and manufacturing partners to ensure high quality execution
Facilitate the building of proof of concept prototypes and overall hardware system components
Assist with prototyping of both electrical and mechanical systems
Work with our platform and infrastructure teams to develop and implement testing procedures for new mechanical and electrical components
Contribute to the ideation and planning for our hardware roadmap to support business needs and engineering requirements
Establish and maintain vendor relationships
Manage more junior engineers and/or contractors as needed through the design and development process
Ownership of engineering drawings, documentation, and PLM tools
 
 
Requirements
 
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
5+ years experience in hardware development
3+ years experience in facilitating contract manufacturing processes
3+ years of CAD experience
Experience in managing prototyping and engineering projects
Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques (3D printing, laser cutting, CNC)
Familiarity working with sheet metal, CNC milling, composites, and plastics
Experience developing products with robust environmental and shock requirements
A desire to move fast, balanced with the aim to build robust long-lasting solutions for the field
