The company was launched after Brett’s battle to cure his dog’s stomach issues illustrated how processed and un-healthy even “organic” and “natural” pet food truly was. Once he realized how powerful and healthy fresh food can be, he teamed up with Jonathan to develop a fresh alternative to pet food and created the product they wished existed for their own dogs (and dogs everywhere).

The Farmer's Dog is hiring a recruiter to drive our organizational growth. This year we're looking to hire more than 50 people, from Engineering to Operations to Customer Experience and at all levels. This is an opportunity to work in a high growth environment, own processes and interact with top talent.
The focus of this role would be to build out the Engineering department. Amongst others, this includes software engineers, UX/UI designers, project and product managers. As our first talent acquisition hire you should be organized, process driven and comfortable taking ownership.


  • Source & build a pipeline of top talent
  • Build out a great candidate experience
  • Screen and qualify candidates for technical skills and values
  • Own the full hiring process lifecycle from outreach to offer
  • Partner with internal teams to figure out a hiring strategy
  • Manage agencies, ads, referrals and platforms
  • Continue to define and market our employee brand to continue to catalyze our hiring process
  • Streamline the interview process to continue to make us more objective and efficient


  • 2+ years experience in recruiting capacity
  • A proven record of recruiting and maintaining top talent
  • Analytical and data driven approach to hiring
  • Experience recruiting for software engineering roles in New York
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Expertise in policy related to New York and U.S. HR laws
  • Must: play nicely with others (humans and dogs). Prefer dogs to other species.
