Director of Event Marketing: San Francisco at Anaplan

Our corporate events team is responsible for those experiences around the world, and we’re looking for a new team leader.

The Director of Event Marketing takes pride and is accountable for leading the events strategy, planning and world-class execution. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Marketing, s/he is an important innovator and leader in the marketing organization to ensure that Anaplan’s event strategy is aligned to - and reflective of - category creating, brand building and demand creating marketing campaigns. S/He will lead a team of talented event marketers that manage all Anaplan events from internal events, Anaplan-owned events, industry tradeshows, partner events, etc.

This role is an immediate full-time position, reporting to the VP of Corporate Marketing.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Head the Global Events Council that drives the company strategy and approach to event marketing
  • Lead the strategic planning and creative development of event initiatives, providing guidance to the team that manages all event needs from branding, agenda design, content creation, and venue selection to event execution.
  • Partner and collaborate with the demand generation, branding, and social marketing teams, as well as the community team, around event planning and promotion.
  • Be the lead and liaison to all other company functions for all event marketing related needs.
  • Gather and track ROI, engagement analytics and feedback to consistently assess opportunities for improvement.
  • External vendor management and operations lead for event marketing.
  • Mentoring, developing and continuing to develop a strong team of event marketers.


Required skills / qualifications for the ideal Events Marketing Director:

  • 10+ years of broad marketing experience including events: technology/SaaS sector experience, enterprise B2B
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate events: technology/SaaS sector experience, enterprise B2B
  • 5+ years of team management experience including managing agencies
  • Previous experience leading strategic planning, creative development and full marketing programs for event initiatives, providing guidance to the team that manages all event needs from branding, agenda design, content creation, and venue selection to event execution and post event review
  • Strong influencing ability and executive presence
  • Excellent communications skills and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Comfortable managing multiple demands and meeting tight deadlines
