Sr. Accountant at Anaplan

Anaplan is looking to hire a qualified and experienced Senior Accountant to its GL Accounting team. This is a crucial role that will assist in overseeing general accounting operations in a fast paced and evolving environment. This role will be responsible for supporting the month-end close process, SOX compliance control execution and quarterly / annual audit process, as well as identifying and driving project-based work to provide process efficiencies for the general ledger team. The candidate should expect to leverage current skillsets while also focusing on learning quickly and adding value to the current processes. This role will be reporting to the Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily general ledger operations for the majority of financial statement processes
  • Assist in managing the monthly close process and reconciliations such as Prepaids, Capitalized Software, Fixed Assets, Accruals, and various other areas
  • Assist in managing portions of the balance sheet and income statement review
  • Assist in managing external audit, including preparation and ongoing support
  • Perform special, ad-hoc projects in Accounting/Finance as requested
  • Collaborating with technical accounting on research and the preparation of accounting memos and business process documentation such as leases (ASC 842)
  • Ensuring compliance with key controls & accurate GAAP reporting and fulfilling internal and external reporting requirements
  • Support scaling our processes through automation by working on system implementations and enhancements, including the utilization of Anaplan for the accounting team

 

Required experience & skills: 

  • 2-3 years of experience in Accounting or Audit within one of the Big 4.
  • 2-3 years of Accounting experience in a SaaS or Technology company (highly preferred)
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA or MBA preferred)
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal daily direction from management to accomplish objectives and deadlines
  • Organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are a must
  • Accounting research and problem-solving skills required
  • Highly detail oriented and ability to multi-task is a valuable asset
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills – must have significant experience in Microsoft applications; Workday experience is a plus
  • Ability to operate independently and as part of a larger functional team
