The Manufacturing Liaison Engineer will be responsible for ensuring components and subsequent processes are designed for manufacturability. This role is for a dynamic, self-starting individual with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at our facility in Huntington Beach, CA with occasional travel to our facility in Tucson, AZ.  

A typical day might include the following:

  • S/he will be directly reporting to the Director of Manufacturing
  • Work with engineering team to ensure DFM and DFA is appropriately addressed prior to design release.
  • Provide guidance and implement processes to streamline vehicle part count and implement poke-yoke where possible.
  • Review design technical data packages to ensure manufacturability and perform Manufacturing sign off.
  • Lead the Manufacturing and Assembly of Development Vehicle build. 
  • Ensure that appropriate tooling and fixtures are available to support MAIT activities.
  • Provide direction to the build technicians and work closely with them during the build process.
  • Generate MAIT sheets/work instructions for inspection, installation, and testing of structures components, and highlighting best practices and quality points in the processes.
  • Develop tools and processes to track and document Manufacturing and Assembly process steps and ensure documentation of the as-built vehicle configuration.
  • Work with vendors to identify tools and equipment that can be used to improve the manufacturing/assembly process.
  • Act as vendor manufacturing PoC to ensure appropriate manufacturing documentation and act as liaison to resolve manufacturing issues and non-conformances.

This job might be for you if you have these:

  • B.S./M.S. in Aerospace/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent is required
  • 5+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience
  • Proficient in Teamcenter and NX
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office suite
  • Willing to travel approx. 15-20% to Tucson, AZ facility to support test campaigns and support program reviews is likely
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
