Senior Product Manager: Internal Tools at Starship

Starship Technologies is developing the future of delivery – self-driving robots that bring parcels, groceries and food to people around the world. Our key operational processes and software tools are developed in-house at Starship, and we’re looking for an experienced Product Manager to lead the continuous development of operational processes and tools. The main metrics for our operations are related to unit economics, operational excellence and safety of the service we are offering. The processes and tools under your management will greatly influence will transform our service and support global scaling

Your primary job responsibilities will be:

    • Identify and assess the current and future operational needs for areas of improvement and optimization
    • Collaborate with operations teams to develop and refine operations procedures from a technical perspective
    • Work closely with our Engineering team to prioritize improvements and feature requests for our software tool suite
    • Support operations in facilitating the launch and integration of new products
    • Solicit and analyze feedback from robot operators to identify opportunities for improving operational processes and software tools the operators are using
    • Draft and maintain roadmaps and specifications for software tools

You will primarily work with:

    • Starship EU and US Operations Control Centers (Tallinn and Washington DC)
    • Starship Product and Engineering teams in Tallinn and Helsinki
    • Business Development and Marketing teams in USA and EU
    • Starship field operations locations in USA, UK, Germany and elsewhere
    • External marketplace partners in key locations

You might just be the person we're looking for, if you:

    • Have demonstrated experience in defining the direction, phases, and implementation of a complex digital product
    • Have hands-on experience in executing rapid research and developing solid decision-making criteria
    • Have experience leading a software development processes - from product definition through to tracking rigorously all product outcomes
    • Can work cross-functionally with business development, engineering, design, data analytics and operations
    • Proven ability to be resourceful and adaptable in a dynamic business context, and is comfortable working with uncertainty
    • Have sound business judgment and strong analytical thinking skills
    • Have strong written and spoken English
    • Are willing to work flexible hours across different time zones where required
    • Are able to travel

Minimum Qualifications:

    • 6+ years experience in hands-on technical product development
    • Solid working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods
    • Proven ability to collaborate across cultures, geographical areas and cross functional teams
    • Ability to facilitate senior team sessions and ask, as well as answer, meaningful and impactful questions
    • Strong communication and influencing skills
    • B.Sc/B.A in Computer Science, Product Design, Industrial Management, Human Computer Interaction, Marketing is highly desirable

Preferred Qualifications:

    • M.Sc/M.A in Computer Science, Product Design, Industrial Management, Human Computer Interaction, Marketing
    • Experience/understanding of advanced infrastructural or enterprise systems (e.g. Road or air traffic control systems, logistics management systems)
    • Previous experience in an externally funded technology Startup
