Technical Content Editor at Anaplan

The technical content team at Anaplan is looking for an editor who has extensive experience working with a large team of technical authors who write structured content about enterprise-scale software products. Smart, adaptable, keen to learn, and across all the latest thinking in content development you’ll have complete focus on the audience to ensure that content always places the customer first.

You’ll have a very strong eye for tone and voice; structure; message; and whether the delivery mechanism is optimal for the type of content. A minimalist, with mastery of the structure and content of the English language, you’ll also be alert to the requirements of localization.

We’re moving to topic-based writing in a CCMS so we’re developing a style guide, voice and tone guidelines, accessibility guidelines, localization guidelines, IA, metadata schemas, taxonomies, etc. We need you to be comfortable dealing with all of these areas of content structure and consistency.  You’ll need a very strong background in writing and editing all kinds of content, including APIs, in a software engineering environment.  

We’re looking for an empathetic editor who can coach our writers and help them to become technical writing ninjas. To help them achieve this, you’ll need to be calm and confident in your complete understanding of the principles of technical writing.

Your strong analytical skills mean you’re the editor who can see through what is on the page to what could be on the page. You also need really good developmental and substantive editing skills to ensure our writers are hitting the brief and content is well structured. To deliver on all this, you’ll need to have the ability to give and receive feedback in a professional and friendly manner.

It’s a challenging and varied role. Anaplan is a challenging and dynamic company. You’ll need to be totally happy adapting to constant change, comfortable with multi-tasking and able to pivot easily.

To summarise, we’re looking for someone to:

  • review and edit all technical content to align with our standards.
  • coach our writers and raise their performance as writers.
  • contribute to the standards by which we measure the quality of our content.

 We require:

  • a minimum of 5 years of experience editing online or web content for multiple authors who are writing about a large enterprise product.Even more years of experience writing in such an environment.
  • a degree in Information Systems, English, Journalism, Communications, or related technology-focused field.
  • demonstrable experience writing and editing many kinds of content from end-user to highly-technical developer, systems administration, and API documentation.
