Launched in August 2013, our platform combines a drag-and-drop design tool that is used by more than 10 million active users across 190 different countries who have created more than 850 million designs (that’s 20 designs created every second). And we’ve only achieved about 1% of what we’re capable of!
 
Canva is a truly global product, and our internationalisation team is responsible for making Canva accessible to all 3.3 billion Internet users across the globe. After amazing demand, we have added right-to-left languages and are launching in the Arab World, starting out with Egypt. We are looking for an SEO Lead who will work on accelerating our growth curve and help us navigate the local landscape. This is a freelance (contractor) opportunity.

What you'll do...

  • Strategize and implement local SEO strategies to increase Canva’s user acquisition specific to the target market. This involves working on organic traffic and local landing pages, etc.
  • Optimise the Canva platform and product for the local market through keyword research, gap analysis, and identification of areas for improvement.
  • Improve the design, implementation, and maintenance of Canva’s broad SEO strategy looking after all aspects: technical, content, outreach and authority building.
  • Liaise with Canva’s Growth and SEO teams for projects, initiatives, and cadences.
  • Involvement in other SEO and growth activities and projects as needed
  • Progress to ongoing management/support of locale Outreach team (once Outreach team > 5 members)

You'll love this role if you...

  • Are a Native Arabic speaker from Egypt.
  • Have a strong command and working experience of the English language
  • Have at least two years of SEO experience and background in growing organic search traffic
  • Have expertise that’s not limited to the Egyptian market and are comfortable working across many countries of the Arab World.
  • Have an analytical mindset. Part of SEO is to find gaps and opportunities while being proactive against the market
  • Are persistent. You’ll spend a considerable part of their day experimenting. Although this is challenging, we are looking for the kind of person who will be raring to solve the problems ahead
  • Have a strong drive for impact. Sometimes, you’ll need to do work you’ll consider to be less thrilling for a period of time to find that light bulb moment. Oftentimes, what you’ll find interesting might not be the most impactful things to do – we want you to know how to prioritize very carefully
