Responsibilities:

  • As a senior data scientist, you will
  • Work with the data science team to analyze diverse, unstructured data sources to extract meaningful insights for the businesses we serve,  and build systems that automate the process of data collection and insight generation.
  • Work with the data science and engineering team to derive creative solutions to improve delivery of our media products (ads & email)
  • Assist product teams in making data-backed product decisions
  • Identify what data is available and relevant, and make suggestions for new data collection methods. You must be comfortable with uncertainties in data sources, and capable of making reasonable assumptions and clearly communicating these assumptions to technical and non-technical folks alike.
  • Apply advanced statistical methods to help a variety of business activities in all departments
  • Design experiments, test hypotheses, and implement scalable, machine-learning algorithms
  • Mentor junior data engineers/scientists on data science and statistical techniques

Qualifications: What does it take to do this job?

  • MS or Ph.D. (preferred) in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience working as a data scientist in academia or  industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills in areas of probability, statistics, and applied mathematics. Proficient in statistical analysis, forecasting analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with a range of data mining and machine learning techniques, such as classification, clustering and natural language processing.
  • Strong programming skills: Python preferred
  • Experience with tools and libraries for statistical analysis: numpy/scipy, pandas, SQL, R
  • Experience with NLP libraries: NLTK, Gensim, Spacy
  • Experience with deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow, Theano, Keras.
  • Experience with big-data technologies: MapReduce, Hive, Apache Spark
  • Experience with the AWS tech stack preferred (not required)
