Copy Manager, Delivery at Spiceworks
Austin, TX, US

Who you are: Do you like technology, love writing and editing, and excel at leading a group of full-time and freelance writers in delivering quality on-brand content to a variety of tech-savvy audiences? Spiceworks may be the right place for you. We’re looking for a talented Copy Manager to oversee the creation and delivery of white papers, case studies, infographics, interactive eBrochures and digital content on behalf of our clients. If you can lead a team in creating smart, creative, compelling content for some of the top technology companies in the world, we’d love to talk.

Who we are:  For over 10 years, Spiceworks has been helping the world’s businesses find, adopt, and manage the latest technologies. We’ve also been helping IT brands build, market, and sell better products and services. Millions of IT buyers and hundreds of brands later, we’ve built the platform they use to get their jobs done and make them better at what they do, every day.

With our helpful tools, technical content, a global community of experts, and entertaining ways to blow off steam, we’ve got IT covered. And because we understand IT buyers and the businesses they represent, established brands like Microsoft, Dell, and CDW, to name a few, and the latest industry innovators including KnowBe4 and Scale Computing use our insights and technology platform to run smarter, more personalized campaigns.

In short, we’re making IT easy — and FUN — for everyone. Best part: we’re just getting started!

Responsibilities: Your day-to-day (as a Copy Manager, you’ll):

  • Manage and mentor the writing team from day-to-day management of individual projects to leading teams in creating a range of content for sustained campaigns
  • Direct the overall workflow/allocation of assignments with the appropriate writers
  • Oversee up to 10 projects/month from client kick off to reviewing/editing drafts to delivery of final content to the design and interactive teams
  • Review all content to ensure brand-specific style and consistency, technical accuracy, and a final deliverable that meets the clients’ objectives
  • Work closely with producers to keep projects moving through – make minor client edits, review drafts in layout, change writer assignments if needed, etc.
  • Collaborate with creative director, writers and designers to create brilliant ideas

Qualifications: What does it take to do this job?

The must-haves (your track record proves you’re):

  • A formidable editor. You’re not just a spooky-good proofreader, you’re a pro at identifying areas for improvement in others’ drafts — and providing actionable feedback.
  • A total techie. You have a natural tech curiosity. You’ve probably got 5 –10+ years of writing experience in tech marketing/advertising or a related field (technology copywriter, IT analyst, IT journalist). Technical chops are a must.
  • An expert (project) juggler. With out-of-this-world project management skills, you multi-task and complete complex projects flawlessly and under tight deadlines. Agency experience is a big plus.
  • An IT whisperer. We aren’t looking for someone who just spins marketing speak. You know how to connect with IT pros and use data to help inform, educate, and above all, engage them on topics that get their attention.
  • Rabidly committed to excellence. Moving fast is no excuse for technical errors and missed deadlines. You’re comfortable getting (and using) constructive feedback to help the team be the best.
  • A natural leader. You lead by example, motivate, and work side by side with a talented team in a fast-paced environment.
