Your day-to-day (as a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll):

  • Design and develop systems 
  • Pair with other engineers 
  • Thoroughly test code 
  • Monitor/own your applications 
  • Contribute to the design and development of product features and backend services 
  • Work together with other engineers on an Agile Scrum team to plan and execute company outcomes 
  • Help drive the innovation and evolution of Spiceworks 
  • Work on our growing community and services used by millions of IT pros


  • What does it take to do this job?
  • 3+ years experience with a Full Stack development framework like Ruby on Rails
  • 3+ years experience with front-end Javascript frameworks (Vue.js, Ember.js, etc…)
  • 3+ years of experience building large-scale, distributed, high-volume systems that are well tested and performant 
  • Object-oriented and/or functional programming skills in modern language (Ruby, Go, Elixir, Scala, or equivalent) 
  • Basic skills in HTML & CSS
  • Experience designing, building, maintaining, testing and debugging modern technology stacks 
  • Solving large-application/user-level problems, performance, scalability, etc. 
  • Experience working with cross-functional agile teams 
  • Some experience with big data is desired 
  • BS or BA in math, engineering, computer science, or related field preferred
