Job Summary

The Composite Technician will assist in composites fabrication including final assembly, trimming and drilling in both development and production environments related to the VECTOR-R launch vehicle and its propulsion elements. This role is for a dynamic, self-starting individual with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position located at our facility in Tucson, AZ.

A typical day might include the following:

  • Layup and vacuum bagging of composite parts using different methods such as: Wet Layup, RTM, and Prepreg.
  • Working with different epoxies, resins, and solvents while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Trim and drill of composite parts in line with drawing requirements
  • Assemble composite based hardware in line with development and production requirements
  • Use of hand and power tools for the modification of composite parts (i.e. pneumatic grinders, DA’s, drills, screwdrivers, pencil grinders, disc sanders, band saw, rivet guns, etc.)
  • Application of cork to composites parts
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings using an understanding of drawing symbols, flag notes and general notes
  • Communicate with Engineers and provide constructive feedback on specified designs and processes

This job might be for you if you have these:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with layup (RTM, prepreg, wet layup, vacuum bagging), bonding or assembly of composites, with at least 1 year of experience with composite tooling materials OR completion of an Airframe and Powerplant license (A&P) from an accredited school
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 25 lbs (unassisted)
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours minimum
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
  • Operate predominantly in an outdoor setting, with limited air-conditioned office space
  • Walking outdoors over unprepared surfaces
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
