Job Description:
Pill Club is looking for a full-time, experienced Controller to lead the Company’s accounting operations and team. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments where accounting practices need to be built from the ground up. You must be a hands-on, roll-up your sleeves type of leader and have the ability to work independently while leading a team. You must be driven by attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency, while advocating for others to follow your lead. The Controller role can be based in the San Carlos, CA (Bay Area) or in the Dallas / Fort-Worth area.


    • Direct and oversee all aspects of accounting and payroll operations
    • Review and prepare financial statements, accurately and timely, with related footnotes in accordance with U.S. GAAP
    • Design, implement and manage policies and procedures and controls in core areas, including G/L Accounting,  Revenue & A/R, Inventory, A/P and cash management
    • Manage monthly-close process, including account analysis and reconciliation
    • Collaborate with FP&A team in company forecasting / budgeting initiatives
    • Direct activities of, provide guidance to, and mentor an accounting team with varying experience levels
    • Manage and monitor company’s cash, capital allocation overall financial health regularly
    • Coordinate and manage relationships with key external third parties, including audit, tax and banking partners
    • Oversee business compliance including state business and occupational taxes across many states
    • Oversee year-end audit and handle year-end tax filings and supporting schedules
    • Collaborate with executives and leaders cross-functionally to manage cost controls and reporting
    • Build accounting department as company expands


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (master’s degree preferred)
    • CPA
    • 8-10 years of overall accounting experience including experience with audits
    • 5+ years of experience leading and managing accounting teams, including experience at the Controller level
    • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP
    • Knowledge of multiple financial and accounting / reporting systems and tools, both small and large
    • “Big 4” public accounting experience is preferred
    • Experience working at a start-up or healthcare / pharmacy business is a plus
    • Ability to dive deep into problem areas and create efficient and accurate solutions
    • Self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Willingness to work in a fast-paced start-up environment
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products
