The Launch Engineer will be responsible for building, evolving, and maintaining VECTOR launch license applications and associated technical documentation, developing relationships with existing and new launch ranges/sites, building out our launch operations capabilities, acting as a technical interface across multiple departments, and supporting periodic launches as part of the Mission Operations Center (MOC) team. This role is for a dynamic, self-starting individual with great attention to detail, ability to execute on-time, every time, and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position located at our Huntington Beach, CA facility.

A typical day might include the following:

  • Working with fellow members of the Launch Operations team to prepare and launch rockets!
  • Supporting and conducting Launch Operations in the MOC as a reserve on-console team member
  • Reviewing and complying with FAA Part 415 and 417, AFSPCMAN 91-710, Range Commander’s Council, and NASA regulations
  • Developing and writing launch license applications and technical documentation to comply with the applicable regulations
  • Acting as a technical interface between mission management/customers and the engineering team to ensure technical and mission success
  • Engaging with launch range personnel to develop, build, and maintain strong relationships as VECTOR enters new markets
  • Working with launch ranges to ensure VECTOR achieves technical and mission assurance goals for every mission
  • Implementing systems engineering best practices to support product and program development efforts across multiple Vector projects and products

This job might be for you if you have these:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering or closely related field
  • 2+ years of progressively responsible experience in an engineering capacity in support of launch operations/engineering or 0+ years with a Master’s degree
  • Experience in technical writing and requirements compliance
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Willing to travel <20% to Tucson, AZ facility and launch ranges, to support test/launch campaigns and support launch operation pathfinding activities, is likely
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
