Overview
Tonal is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to help us discover insights about our customers and how they’re using our products. Reporting to the Head of Product, you’ll be working closely with Product Managers and Designers to conduct analyses and share findings that will impact the product roadmap and improve the customer experience.

What You Will Do
 
  • Understand the company’s business goals, figure out the right questions to ask, find the right places to access data, analyze it, and tell us what it means
  • Understand how customers are using Tonal products and how they’re engaging with Tonal broadly
  • Access and make sense of raw data (using SQL), link separate data sources into usable formats, and perform data analysis to extract useful business insights
  • Talk to customers to layer in qualitative understanding with quantitative findings and hypotheses
  • Work closely with cross functional teams to provide useful analysis
  • Develop reports that uncover patterns and drivers of engagement and retention
  • Design and implement reporting dashboards that track key business metrics
  • Uncover and communicate insights to the product team and company leadership

Who You Are
 
  • 3+ years of experience doing quantitative analysis
  • BA/BS in Business, Econ, Statistics, Math, or other technical field, or professional experience equivalent
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Hands on experience with BI tools such as Metabase, Tableau, Looker
  • Understanding of statistics (e.g., hypothesis testing, regressions) and an ability to teach stakeholders
  • Experience with ERP and CRM systems like Netsuite or Salesforce
  • Ability to organize, visualize, and present complex data to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving startup environment

Extra Credit


  • Experience manipulating data sets through statistical software (ex. R, SAS) or other methods
  • Development experience in any scripting language (PHP, Python, Perl, etc.)
  • Enough javascript experience to make a useful data visualization in D3 or similar
