Position Description

As a Robotics Electrical Engineer at Airspace Systems, you will be responsible for the electrical systems operating at the core of advanced drones that save lives. You will work directly with mechanical, software and firmware engineers to produce PCBs and cable designs that can handle challenging environments. You will mentor junior electrical engineers to increase their knowledge of circuit design and layout best practices and review their work.

Airspace Systems is rapidly scaling up its engineering team as we aim to deliver highly sought-after products in a rapidly growing field.  

Responsibilities:

  • Architecture, circuit design, part selection, simulation and schematic capture for robotic control systems.

  • Layout of PCBs for rigid and flexible circuit designs.

  • Supervision and review of junior designers.

  • Debug communication between radios and optimize radio communications.

  • Active collaboration with firmware team for board bring up.

  • Manage EE development schedule leading up to major milestones.

  • Generate cable and PCB designs that can handle challenging ESD, EMI and high temperature environments.

  • Create clear design documentation and test procedures.

  • Participate in creating design qualification and testing procedures.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing aerospace grade electronics and cables or equivalent.

  • Experience with Altium PCB design software.

  • Experience bringing designs with challenging SI, PI, EMI and thermal constraints to market.

  • Excellent problem solving skills and a can-do attitude.

Nice to have...

  • Experience designing to eliminate EMI interference in a noisy environment.

  • Experience with the theory, implementation and/or deployment of either RF communications or radar.

  • Team leadership experience.

You will be working from our San Leandro office daily around a friendly and diverse set of staff.  You willhave access to a fully stocked kitchen, catered lunches and you can participate as a team member in company events and outings. We will assign you a computer workstation and tools as needed and necessary to complete the job. 

Compensation: $TBDwhich will be paid semi-monthly in accordance with the Company’s normal payroll procedures. Obviously: medical, dental, vision, vacation, health and wellness, and stock options are part of the package.
