Senior Paralegal/Junior Legal Counsel at Spire

Founded in 2012, Spire designs and operates one of the largest satellite constellations in the world (we just celebrated the launch of our 100th satellite), which it uses to gather maritime, aviation, and weather data. The company owns the entire stack from custom hardware to customer APIs. Operating in four countries across three continents, Spire is a truly international company.  We are looking for highly motivated team players who will help us continue to grow on the ground and in space. 

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Legal Counsel or Senior Paralegal to join our in-house legal team. Your key responsibilities will be to draft, negotiate and advise on a variety of commercial agreements including data agreements, procurement documents and NDAs. However, you will also be helping with all sorts of other legal issues as they arise. 

You will have the opportunity to work alongside an all-star team of individuals who build our technology and satellite network and another set of all-stars who sell the outputs to our customers around the world. You will be able to get to know and work with the entire business. But most importantly for you, you’ll have the chance to build a wealth of legal expertise in a fascinating and constantly changing industry.

Responsibilities of your role:

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts on both the sales and vendor side.
  • Manage high-volume routine contracts such as NDAs.
  • Work with experienced in-house legal counsel on whatever legal issues arise.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Team player who can work fluidly across a diverse and geographically distributed team.
  • Experience dealing with contracts in an international environment.
  • The experience & ability to handle (and drive-forward) routine matters independently. 
  • Strong written and oral communication (drafting & negotiating) skills.
  • Satellite industry and satellite design/operations and/or telecommunications industry experience a plus.
  • Law degree or equivalent desired.
