Tonal is looking for someone passionate about developing innovative products. From concept, prototyping, test and iteration through to high volume production.
You will work on the hardware team developing new products that combine complex mechanical and electronic systems. You will develop and provide design support for new mechanical and electromechanical components.  Our team offers a unique opportunity to define a new category and build experiences with a variety of technologies and manufacturing processes.

What You Will Do
  • Design mechanical parts and systems
  • Develop new consumer products and support existing product lines
  • Rapid concept development and prototyping
  • Work with Asia-based teams for development, NPI and MFG
  • Own sub-systems and direct cooperation with suppliers and CMs
  • Work across groups to understand context, goals, and constraints
  • Responsible for engineering documentation and tolerance analysis
  • Support supplier development projects
  • Work with quality and reliability teams to ensure products meet Tonal standards
  • Assess new vendor capabilities and manufacturing processes in support of new development projects
  • Lead ongoing quality improvements by working closely with manufacturers
  • Expected domestic and international travel

Who You Are
  • Mechanical engineering professional with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • Product design and development experience
  • Experience working with manufacturing partners in Asia
  • Relevant part/assembly development experience and 3D modeling (we use Solidworks)
  • Experience with a variety of materials and manufacturing technologies
  • Collaborative style and able to navigate through a growing organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ready to give presentations
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Hands-on problem-solver, shop experience a plus
  • Mechanism and electro-mechanical systems expertise a plus
