Research Associate (Part Time, Remote) at RDMD

RDMD is looking for research interns who can help us execute on clinical research projects in neurological and metabolic rare diseases. You will work closely with the RDMD Research Team to design and manage research studies that utilize real-world data abstracted from medical records. You will have the opportunity to contribute to research abstracts and publications and will be able to work cross-functionally with our product, engineering, content, and operations teams. This is an ideal position for someone with a scientific or clinical background who is interested in learning more about working in health technology and industry. This is a paid, part-time position that can be held remotely with flexible hours.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Work with the RDMD Research Team and our clinical collaborators to develop research protocols that guide what data to abstract from medical records
  • Work with the RDMD Abstraction Team to perform case studies on small cohorts of patients to help guide future research question development for the team
  • Assist in the execution of at least 1 research project across the RDMD portfolio, such as helping with administrative tasks, data analysis, or writing up results
  • Dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per week to RDMD (remotely); while most work can be completed on your own time, there will be occasional meetings / calls with the Research Team during normal working hours (Pacific time)
  • Additional opportunities are available depending upon your availability and interests

 

Requirements

 

  • Currently enrolled in a biomedical or clinical M.S. or doctoral program, such as Medicine, Genetic Counseling / Genetics, Biomedical Sciences / Biology, or Nursing. Recent graduates of these programs or postdoctoral fellows interested in transitioning to health technology / industry will also be considered.
  • Past clinical or basic science research experience is strongly preferred; bonus if you have previously worked in lysosomal storage diseases, neurofibromatosis, or neurological conditions such as IBM, CIDP, myasthenia gravis, or Charcot-Marie-Tooth
  • Past experience working with medical records or clinical data in a research or clinical setting is a plus
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Incredible attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, time management, and communication skills
