02About the Role

 

You will become a user expert who deeply understands our user’s needs as well as the ways that our product works (or doesn’t work) for them, and you will share that understanding with our Designers and Product Managers. You will use Frame.io yourself and become familiar with all of its quirks. You will go out and visit customers, listening to them and brainstorming ways that we could solve more of their problems. You will gather data from surveys and from our data analysis tools (with help) to provide a statistical foundation to the patterns that you see.

You will be joining a new and small team at a fast-growing startup, so you'll need to be nimble and flexible. You won't be fitting into a neat process with clearly outlined responsibilities. Instead, you'll be asked to help decide what your responsibilities ought to be based on your skills and our biggest needs, which may be dynamic.

This role is a part of an overall mission to help the company make user-informed decisions, so we don’t just talk to customers. We also work closely with our sales and support teams and spend time digging through our user activity databases, synthesizing all of those insights together to generate concrete, actionable recommendations for product development.

 

03Requirements

 

  • Excellent communication skills. Discovering insights is only half of research; you must be able to communicate those insights convincingly and empathetically to the rest of the organization.
  • Autonomy and a willingness to identify whatever you can do that will have the highest impact.
  • A growth mindset. When you encounter a problem you don't know how to solve, you take the initiative to find the answer or teach yourself a new skill. There will be lots of learning.
  • Curiosity to get to know our customers and our industry.
  • Experience of film/video/TV workflows.

 

04Bonus points if you have

 

  • Deep knowledge of video industry workflows, and/or expertise as a video creator.
  • Data analysis skills (Excel, SQL).
  • Experience working on a product team.
  • Experience conducting user interviews and crafting surveys.

 

05Responsibilities

 

  • Work closely with Product Managers and Designers to ensure each feature in development is built to solve our user’s most important needs.
  • Work with various teams at Frame.io to find out what they need to learn about our users.
  • Talk to customers (often along with another team-member).
  • Write and send surveys.
  • Collect and synthesize results, crafting persuasive artifacts that lead our team to actionable next steps.
  • Stay on top of the latest trends in our industry and among our competitors.
  • Identify new tools, features, and workflows that could add new value to our users.
  • Present results to the relevant teams and occasionally to the entire company.
