VP, Technology at Poppin

We are looking for a hands-on Vice President of Technology to lead the product management and engineering teams, guide architectural decisions, and partner with Poppin’s executive team to drive scale in our omni-channel office solutions business. 

 

This position requires exceptional programming ability, strong engineering management experience with a track record of leading engineers and the ability to make smart technical decisions while collaborating with leaders on the business-side. The Vice President of Technology will provide the technology vision and leadership in the development, implementation and support of Poppin’s business.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead strategic technical planning by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies
  • Work closely with the Executive Team to set direction and translate business priorities into technical agenda
  • Direct, manage, and mentor a team of product managers, front-end and back-end software engineers, and quality assurance engineers divided between New York City and Eastern Europe
  • Ensure that priorities are defined, requirements are developed, and appropriate processes are established in support of the product management life cycle to continue the development of the platform
  • Implement and evolve the day to day engineering processes through best practices, coding guidelines, and design documents
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication and interactions between engineering and other functions (eg. product, sales, marketing, operations, planning, etc.)

 

Qualifications:

 

  • A minimum of 12 years of industry engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management position
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Extensive experience in software development and architecture
  • Demonstrated team building and leadership skills; experience managing hybrid teams of in-house and outsourced engineers
  • Hands on product experience in the following:
    • E-commerce systems
    • CMS
    • Marketing/Ad Tech
    • CRM systems
    • ERP systems
    • Technical Integrations with 3rd party systems
    • Order management/fulfillment (3PL providers, drop-ship, wholesale EDI platforms)
    • Data warehousing/analytics
    • API/Messaging systems
    • SQL or other relational DB
  • Proven knowledge on how to design and manage 24/7 reliability and failover supported applications/systems
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying in cloud based environments (AWS, S3, EC2, ELB, etc.)
  • Strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills
  • Strong understanding of the ad tech ecosystem, specifically related to the use of data for media targeting, measurement and analytics
  • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
