Finance Supervisor at Canva

The Finance Supervisor role in our China office is an instrumental part of Canva China’s and the broader group finance function. You’ll primarily be responsible for overseeing the day to day finance operations, ensuring that processes run smoothly and compliance deadlines are met. Acting as the bridge between head office and the local finance function, you’ll also work closely with the China CEO to drive strategic group initiatives as Canva continues on its exciting journey.
 

Maintains high standards

  • Ensure that the accounting records of the Company are prepared in a timely manner
  • Review of employee and vendor payouts, computations for payroll related taxes & entitlements and monthly reports/remittances
  • Review of all compliance filings and preparation of yearly reconciliations – income tax, VAT, employee/supplier withholding tax and employee entitlements
  • Oversight of the Accounts Payable process across the Canva group
  • Controlling cash management and handling

Consistently meets deadlines

  • Drive the timely and accurate completion of month end processes/reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly management reporting pack
  • Budget preparation and variance analysis
  • Assist in intercompany transactions and invoicing
  • Assist in the implementation and administration of the employee stock option program
  • Liaise with auditors in relation to annual company and group audits

Drives change and improvement

  • Lead the evolution of internal controls appropriate to Canva’s size and nature during the continued growth of the business
  • Apply your prior knowledge and experience in utilising technology solutions and outsourcing low risk/high effort tasks for achieving efficiencies  and process scaling
  • Continuously evaluate responsibilities, risk areas and knowledge gaps of the team as transaction volumes and complexities of the business increase
  • Assist team members in optimising their roles and time allocation through an increased reliance on technology

The successful candidate will

  • Have at least 3+ years relevant work experience
  • Have experience supervising a small accounting team
  • Have experience working in a private company environment
  • Have experience in using a cloud accounting software (or can demonstrate extensive knowledge of how technology is used in a Finance Function)

  • Big 4 (or top tier accountancy firm) training and career progression
  • Experience dealing with Australian businesses
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Experience with the finance team of a BPO or service entity
  • Experience in a fast paced, dynamic startup environment
  • Experience working within an international group
