Lead Backend Engineer, Growth at Turo
San Francisco, CA, US

We are looking for brilliant software engineers for our Growth team. You should have a passion for consumer products and want to help us realize our mission of putting the world’s one billion cars to better use. We ship code daily, A/B test extensively, and have a leading role in experimenting with new ideas from inception to implementation. You’ll have the unique opportunity to make a direct impact on company metrics and build growth systems that further accelerate Turo’s rapid growth.

Do you like solving complex technical problems? Our API's, internal services, and web app are at the core of our stable of software that’s reinventing mobility. Be a member of a small team of talented engineers and play a major role in shaping an exciting product that’s changing how people travel and think about car ownership.

What you'll do
  • Collaborate extensively with product management, marketing and engineers to define and execute Turo’s strategy on how to acquire new users at scale.
  • Build growth systems from the ground up that scale Turo’s multimillion dollar user acquisition portfolio at ever-increasing spend efficiency.
  • Dive deep into the inner workings of acquisition channels and turn them into ROI positive channels that are managed automatically.
  • Deploy and analyze large scale A/B tests across millions of users.
  • Identify areas to improve and scale our architecture and application design.
  • Produce high-quality maintainable code, test it, collaboratively review it and ship it.
  • Ensure proper technical design and documentation.
  • Decompose complex business problems and lead efforts in solving them.
  • Work efficiently in a constantly changing and growing environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are desired.
Your profile
  • You have 7-10 years experience shipping high-scale code to production.
  • You are fluent in at least one language - e.g., Python, Ruby, Go, C, or Java.
  • You possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, database concepts, distributed systems, and search.
  • You have exposure to SEM, pad acquisition, activation, funnel optimization, bidding and an understanding of various ad technology such as Adwords, Facebook Ads, etc.
