Kapwing empowers digital storytellers and entertainers.  It’s a website that helps creators make and share modern images, videos, and GIFs from the browser. Kapwing also enables teams to work together and produce higher-quality visual content faster with collaborative media tools.


We’re an SF-based seed-stage startup backed by Kleiner Perkins. We raised $1.7m in July 2018 and have tripled in size (usage, MRR) since then. We’re growing our team (right now, 7 FTE) and looking for our first experienced non-technical hire. Read more about Kapwing in TechCrunch.

Product: Where we are now

Kapwing is an online editor for images, GIFs, and video. Unlike iMovie or After Effects, Kapwing runs in the browser, doesn’t require installation, and works on every device. It’s free to use with a paid premium tier, and we’re preparing to launch a Kapwing for Teams package that helps creative agencies produce better content faster.


Role: Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CEO to develop strategic marketing initiatives that increase the number of Kapwing Pro subscribers

  • Manage and operationalize acquisition channels that are working, including SEO and content marketing

  • Hire and manage a team of content creators and a content strategy

  • Own content development on the Kapwing resources library, YouTube channel, and website

  • Capitalize on popular trends and brainstorm wacky ideas to attract PR and attention from creators

  • Experiment with new channels to develop promising acquisition campaigns


This position is a full-time role reporting to the CEO at the Kapwing HQ in San Francisco.

Role: Trajectory


  • 3 Months: Take over the content strategy and growth content creation teams for higher quality and quantity.  Manage guest blog contributions.

  • 6 Months: Propose a marketing plan and execute on campaigns in promising acquisition channels.

  • 9 Months: Grow and manage a marketing team with efforts in content marketing, PR and outreach, influencer sponsorships, community engagement, and display ads.

  • 1 Year +: This person has potential to evolve into Kapwing’s Chief Marketing Officer over time.

Role: Requirements

  • 2-10 years of experience with digital marketing and organic acquisition channels: SEO, content marketing, PR, and partnerships

    • Preferred: Has managed and grown a content/editorial team

    • Experience with bottoms-up SaaS startups is a plus

  • Community Builder: Skilled networker who builds personal relationships with partners, customers, and advocates.

  • Results-oriented: Strategic, focused on outcomes. Experimental.

  • A Creator: Passion for video, entertainment, and digital media

    • Comfortable being on camera and evangelizing Kapwing

    • A great writer: Can efficiently write and edit blog content

  • Creative: Skilled at brainstorming newsworthy ideas and generating buzz

    • Plugged in to pop culture, entertainment, and social media trends

  • [Preferred] Network with creative agencies or corporate communications teams

  • No ego: There’s a lot we wish we could do but don’t have time for. Must have the ability to put the product’s needs first, invite criticism, and embrace failure.
