Robotics Engineer - Quality at Fetch Robotics

As a Robotics Engineer working on Quality, you will develop diagnostic tools, test infrastructure, and simulations that interact directly with core robotics software.  You will work closely with a small group of robotics engineers in a fast-paced development environment to deal with the challenges of deploying robots in the real world.  As part of this role, you'll have the opportunity to work on software and cutting edge algorithms that let robots operate autonomously in unstructured environmental conditions and develop innovative solutions to make robots behave more robustly.



  • Understand our robotics software, what it's expectations and capabilities are, and how it performs
  • Design and implement tools and infrastructure to evaluate and track robotics software performance and reliability
  • Develop test cases to ensure robotics software meets expectations
  • Develop simulation features and tools to test as much as possible in the absence of hardware
  • Regularly evaluate the latest development software




  • BS in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field
  • Experience developing with modern C++ in a Linux or Unix environment
  • Experience developing with Python
  • Basic knowledge of common mobile robotics concepts (SLAM, costmaps, planning)
  • Experience with ROS and RViz
  • Detail-oriented mindset with an emphasis on covering all cases/not leaving loose ends 
  • Willingness to dive deep into complex problems


Nice to Haves


  • Experience developing and debugging software for mobile robots
  • Experience with source control tools like Git and Github
  • Experience with modern development tools like Docker and Bazel
  • Experience dealing with determinism and repeatability in multi-threaded applications
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and automated testing
