Patient Advocacy and Partnerships Director at RDMD

At RDMD, our mission is to empower patients to accelerate drug development for rare diseases. We’re looking for a Patient Advocacy and Partnerships Director to actively engage with the local, national and global advocacy organizations that represent rare disease patients and families. This person will develop productive partnerships and facilitate dialogue with patient advocacy organizations to further our shared goal of faster, better drug development. You should love working closely with patient communities, fostering collaboration and learning, and finding new, creative solutions to age-old problems. You will also help champion the patient voice in everything we do at RDMD, and be comfortable advocating for what you believe patient communities need most.




  • Serve as the primary liaison between RDMD and patient advocacy groups and patient communities, including traveling regularly to meet with patient community leaders in person and to attend conferences
  • Build trust and understanding for RDMD’s mission and goals, while also learning about the most pressing challenges, needs and opportunities identified by the advocacy community
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and innovative engagement approach that forms productive partnerships and collaboration between RDMD and patient advocacy organizations
  • Champion the voice of advocacy organizations and patient communities internally, identifying top needs and opportunities from the patient community perspective and creating recommendations on how they can align with our mission and goals
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide patient community insights that can help guide the development of our product offerings
  • Actively monitor new developments and insights in the field of advocacy and incorporate into the development of the engagement strategy




  • 7+ years within the biotechnology pharmaceutical industry or patient advocacy environment, with a focus on disease awareness.
  • 3+ years of patient advocacy experience in rare disease
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Extremely strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills and an ability to break down complex medical and scientific information in a way that is accessible to all
  • Extremely strong networking and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholder groups to create mutually beneficial projects and initiatives
  • A purpose-driven mindset with a high level of energy, initiative, and ownership
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
