Who we're looking for:

 

A strong QA Engineer who will work with Business Intelligence analysts and developers to make sure data quality and integrity are maintained as new events are added to applications. The position requires strong QA experience with a focus on data, knowledge of data pipelines from raw data to reporting, and demonstrable SQL skills. The QA Engineer will also act as a representative of the QA Engineering Team in scrum meetings, and work alongside product management to address how to provide better quality coverage for the applications supported.

 

What you'll do:

 

  • Design, plan, and execute product testing - including functional testing, system integration testing, regression testing, and performance testing - for our analytics projects including data visualizations and ETL
  • Estimate, plan, and coordinate testing activities for analytics content
  • Design, write, and execute effective manual and automated test cases and create test data as needed
  • Discover, reproduce, prioritize, retest, and clearly document system defects
  • Develop, update, and maintain relevant test metric reporting
  • Perform test coverage analysis and requirement tracing
  • Work with the team to investigate occurring data analytics issues and documentation.
  • Actively participate with the team in software requirements, design, and code reviews to provide early and continuous quality feedback
  • Work with the team to continually improve test processes and practices based on inspection/adaptation of previous iterations and to ensure adherence to process, tools and metrics standards within the project team
  • Be a self-starter and possess the ability to research issues and improve processes
  • Manage multiple tasks and adjust to shifting priorities, as necessary
  • Understand data flow and test strategy for ETL and visualization testing
  • Write advanced SQL queries for ETL/data warehousing/visualization testing

 

What we're looking for:

 

  • 3+ years of in-depth experience and demonstrated proficiency with QA methodology, process, and deliverables
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases
  • Work experience in an agile environment that employs continuous integration processes and automated testing
  • Experience in ETL and data warehouse testing
  • Experience in testing source to destination data movement and transformation
  • Ability to learn a new domain rapidly
  • Ability to write and execute effective manual and automated test cases and test plans
  • Display a high level of initiative and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong work prioritization, planning, and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Agile Scrum development process experience
  • Experience with ETL and visualization test automation tools
  • Experience with test management tools such as JIRA and Zephyr 
  • Experience in using analytic tools such as Amplitude, Segment and/or Google Analytics

 

Bonus Points:

 

  • Higher education domain and system experience
  • Experience with performance and accessibility testing
  • Experience with repository management tool such as GIT
  • Experience in BI reporting tool testing such as Periscope
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and visualization concepts
