About the Job

LiveIntent is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel who can work at the intersection of legal and compliance issues, data privacy, and business needs. The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand complex legal issues, presenting solutions and negotiate deals with LiveIntent clients. We are looking for a hands-on, resourceful person who is capable of building great relationships internally and externally while striving to achieve their best in the following areas:


  • Identifying legal issues, providing analysis of enterprise risks, creating and implementing solutions structured to achieve business objectives efficiently.
  • Provide data and privacy subject matter expertise to cross-functional stakeholders and departments including but not limited to, product, legal, sales and business development.
  • Recognizing and elevating complex and/or controversial issues to senior management in a timely and effective manner
  • Maintaining knowledge of the organization’s operations and legal documents.
  • Provide guidance and negotiate commercial agreements, addressing legal issues related to intellectual property, compliance, marketing, sale, licensing, and distribution of products.
  • Advising, counseling and influencing business stakeholders on legal and regulatory matters associated with their commercial and functional operations, Product launch, marketing, and distribution strategies, leading and influencing business stakeholders regarding the resolution of potential and pending issues.
  • Liaising with outside counsel regarding their assignments.
  • Evaluates, leads, and drives accountability for GDPR (to the extent applicable), CCPA and future regulatory compliance work streams which span stakeholders in advertising, marketing, analytics, IT, and legal
  • Leads awareness and training efforts as needed and/or required to increase employee understanding of company privacy policies, data handling practices and procedures, and legal obligations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies or related field
  • A minimum of 4 years of direct data and privacy experience required, in-house experience preferred.
  • Experience within the AdTech, Media or Publisher industries
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements including those related data licensing
  • Direct experience advising internal stakeholders on a wide range of data use matters.
  • Experience advising on privacy and data security law and compliance efforts, including the organization and coordination of privacy assessments, corporate policies and processes.
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with demanding internal and external clients.
  • Ability to make decisions and pivot quickly and fluidly, thinking practically and be solution-oriented.
  • A practical and proactive problem-solver who possesses strong business acumen and is confident, mature and calm under fire.
  • Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in New York.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
