We are seeking a pivotal leadership executive to head up our technology team as VP Engineering in our Seattle Flyhomes office!

The Vice President of Engineering will provide the technical vision for the company’s engineering strategies that scale alongside the changing needs of clients, internal teams and our growing business. This role will be responsible for creating the technical roadmap, fostering a strong engineering culture and increasing the product delivery velocity with consumer oriented applications that provide highest level of usability, performance, scalability, security and efficiency. Oversight includes Engineering, Machine Learning, Security & IT with local and remote teams.

What You’ll Do 

  • Direct the development of the strategic technology vision and execute against the product and technical roadmap in partnership with the Engineering team. 
  • Determine the long-term architecture for the existing platform and implement the company's product development vision.
  • Attract, hire and retain highly skilled engineers. Act as an expert advisor, coach, and mentor across the technology organization on latest engineering principles and practices. 
  • Participate in an iterative planning process to estimate, prioritize and roadmap the development of new features and applications. 
  • Work closely with the Product team to ideate, scope, plan, estimate, coordinate roadmaps for client-facing experiences. Ensure timely, high-quality releases.
  • Collaborate across the organization and executive team to ensure engineering is aligned with business initiatives.
  • Oversee and provide direction for machine learning models and ML team
  • Enable the Engineering team to deliver outstanding value to the business by ensuring operational excellence at every level and meet delivery deadline commitments.
  • Head up technical and operational execution, setting KPIs and metrics to measure the performance and progress of the IT & Security, ML and Engineering teams, defining and implementing processes to drive execution, estimation, and project planning, as well as driving the definition of technical standards and practices. 
  • Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for continuous improvement in the design, development, configuration, testing, deployment, monitoring and operation of technology platform(s).

What You’ll Bring 

  • Ten or more years of technical leadership experience within startup; rapid growth environments
  • Eight or more years in mentoring developers and helping drive engineering maturity
  • Demonstrable depth in technology and current trends; Deep understanding of software design principles, algorithms, data structures, and asynchronous concepts
  • Comfortable in early-stage, fast-paced, high-growth, resource-lean environments
  • Proven track record leading and scaling multiple teams delivering and operating technology solutions 
  • Bachelor's degree, masters preferred, in Computer Science or relevant technical degree
