About This Position
We’re seeking a lab manager to maintain a safe and efficient aerospace laboratory which includes numerous vacuum chambers, cryogenic systems, pressurized gas, advanced electronics, a machine shop, a vibration test system, humidity and thermal chambers and various chemical processing equipment. The Lab Manager will be responsible for managing nearly 6,000 square feet of lab space. Duties will include equipment maintenance and installation, lab organization, facility build-out, leading lab upgrade projects, leading employee lab training, and perhaps most importantly, acting as Accion’s safety officer. Ideally, candidates have experience working with vacuum chambers, cryogenics, pressurized gases, wet labs, electronic equipment heavy machinery. Experience with aerospace hardware inside of a clean room is not required but is helpful to have.
The position is full-time, on-site, and available to be filled immediately.

Key Responsibilities Include


    • Vacuum chamber maintenance and upgrades
    • Maintaining a safe and healthy laboratory workspace as Safety Officer and performing employee safety training
    • General Lab management – maintenance, troubleshooting problems, equipment fixes and upgrades
    • Environmental test equipment maintenance and upgrades
    • Lab and facility build-out as well as equipment purchasing and calibration
    • Documentation of key activities including equipment calibrations, upgrades, faults and personnel usage
    • Assist with electronics and assembly lab management
    • Some vendor management

Required Competencies


    • Vacuum chamber equipment including air and high vacuum pump experience (<1 micro-Torr pressures)
    • Liquid pump experience
    • Basic HVAC experience
    • Facility power experience
    • Lab safety; “Safety Always” mindset
    • Familiarity with common lab chemicals such as IPA and acetone
    • Experience working with ESD sensitive hardware
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Proficiency with MS Word & Excel
