We're looking for an experienced HR operation expert to join our team.You’ll be a champion of Canva’s values, working closely with our team leads and people to coach, navigate and solve problems, and develop and launch programs to support all Canvanauts to be successful.

  • Oversee all stages of the employee lifecycle within our Beijing office from contract signing, to onboarding, performance management, compensation and benefits, learning and offboarding
  • Help build a great culture within Canva’s Beijing office, looking after employee engagement and wellbeing.
  • Work on various People projects such as developing best practice around Labor Relations and HR Policies, Salary Benchmarking, Employee Engagement, Employer Branding.
  • Own the HRIS of the Beijing office and ensure files are complete and regularly updated
  • Prepare and administer employment contracts and service provider agreements
  • Coordinate employee performance evaluation and develop effective KPIs with line stakeholders, and represent People team during 1-on-1 feedback sessions
  • Work with Canva’s global teams to maintain alignment and streamlined practices across our offices
  • Work on monthly payroll and social benefit to make sure all the data is accurate
  • Foster Canva’s culture by upholding our core philosophies, grounded on maximising happiness, celebrating wins, and embracing strength in diversity
  • Facilitate communication among employees to build and maintain positive relationships across the organisation, striking a balanced objective and empathic approach
  • Be aware of best practice around employee engagement
  • Support the People team on ad-hoc projects


  • 3-4 years experience in a similar role
  • You may come from a range of different backgrounds, including consulting, psychology, finance, business or law, but have a passion for developing great people and organisations
  • Ability to think strategically (beyond just the here and now), and synthesise lots of complex information to come up with solutions with tangible impact
  • Data driven and results focussed. Must have prior experience with both quantitative and qualitative data — tracking, measuring and evaluating outcomes to demonstrate impact
  • Some prior experience in technology is critical — you can talk the talk with product managers, engineers, designers and growth marketers
  • You’ll have incredible organisational skills and attention to detail and be able to balance the big picture with getting the important things right
  • You demonstrate a high degree of judgement and can juggle a diverse range of priorities — a standard day could involve supporting someone with parental leave questions, dealing with a performance issue, and rolling out a new onboarding program
  • Be able to clearly communicate to People team functions the needs and wants of the specialty you are working while recognising the overall strategic values of the people team.
  • Can balance working individually and autonomously with working in and alongside a range of teams — you’re comfortable being part of a team, leading projects, or owning things; whatever the job calls for!While we won’t be taking any blood samples, we’d love to see some Startup DNA – you will need to be flexible, pragmatic, strategic, tenacious, and take ownership of deliverables and outcomes – ya gotta have hustle
