Manager, Engineering (Platform) at Second Measure

As an Engineering Manager at Second Measure, you will be responsible for supervising and hiring a team of exceptional engineers who repeatably produce reliable, scalable software that will accurately process billions of transactions to provide daily updates to high value clients that help shape their marketing and investment strategies
 
In this role, you’ll:
  • Help shape the culture of the engineering organization and, by extension, influence the culture of the whole company.
  • Work with the head of engineering and HR to define and refine processes for building and managing teams.
  • Work with product managers to identify gaps in the engineering skillset that would prevent the company from delivering a world-class product roadmap, and then fill those gaps.
  • Be the hiring manager for a team of engineers, including senior ICs and technical leaders.
  • Spend a portion of your time working on individual engineering tasks in order to maintain your technical skills and build empathy with your team.
About you:
  • 5+ years of practical experience building high-performing, robust, mission-critical software in a range of challenging environments with a heavy bias towards high-volume data processing.
  • 2+ years experience leading teams both technically and managerially.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering best practices, algorithms, networking, and computer architectures.
  • High standards for the quality and maintainability of your codebase.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Passionate about building teams and empowering people to excel for themselves and the company.
Nice-to-have:
  • Experience collaborating with recruiters and HR to hire great teams of people.
  • Experience managing or leading teams with remote, particularly international, members.
  • Experience with Python, Scala, Spark, Presto, Kubernetes, and AWS.
  • Familiar with DevOps concepts and experience with tools such as DataDog and CircleCI.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and machine learning.
