Brand Creative Lead at Nextdoor
San Francisco, CA, US

Nextdoor is the neighborhood hub for you, your neighbors and the broader local community. Nextdoor’s purpose is to cultivate a more kind world where everyone has a neighborhood they can rely on.

Building connections in the real world is a universal human need. That truth, and the reality that neighborhoods are one of the most important and useful communities in our lives have been guiding principles for Nextdoor. Today, neighbors rely on Nextdoor in neighborhoods around the world in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Australia and Canada, with many more to come.

Meet your Future Neighbors

We’re looking for an experienced brand visionary as Nextdoor rethinks its brand from the ground up. You love rolling up your sleeves and designing alongside your team. You’re equally excited about leading a brainstorm for billboards, art directing a brand video, or using journeys to concept a seamless brand experience from email marketing through to the product. You’ve built collaborative, engaged, joyful teams and are passionate and proactive about managing, supporting, offering critical yet constructive feedback, and putting in place systems to scale a new brand throughout the organization.

The Impact You’ll Make

As the Brand Creative Lead at Nextdoor, you’ll grow a team of designers working across product, marketing, and communications to express a unified brand experience. You’ll bring a fresh eye to Nextdoor’s brand expression across all touchpoints and by working cross-functionally, ensure a seamless relationship with our members and stakeholders.

You’re a player-coach fluent in bringing brands to life in progressive, compelling ways—from online to offline, from emails to event design—at a global scale. In this role, you’ll define and deliver the Nextdoor brand across multiple platforms and shape the future of the Nextdoor brand as we continue to grow. Throughout, you and your team will empower neighbors to build stronger communities and transform how people connect and engage with their local area.

The Brand Studio sits within the Design team which includes product designers, researchers, and content strategists/copywriters. If you want the challenge of fast-paced growth, the satisfaction of seeing your design work come to life, and the pride in helping grow a world-class design team, this is the place for you. Please include a link to your portfolio in addition to your resume and cover letter. Responsibilities include:

  • Envision and build the Nextdoor brand, reinventing it to grow our audience and impact.
  • Shape how the brand story shows up for all our stakeholders (including members, local businesses, public services, advertisers).
  • Inspire the team—frame big questions, keep users at the center, geek out on the details: provide creative direction and guidance across the organization.
  • Partner with Nextdoor’s leadership and the Design Team to create a holistic brand vision and strategy for Nextdoor; develop new tactics to help us achieve it across the product, marketing, and communications.
  • You’ll develop the vision and manage the implementation of a full brand revamp and build the tools, frameworks, and processes to guide the organization through this.
  • You’ll mentor and grow the design team—leading cross-functional brainstorms, holding design reviews, and building an inspiring design culture.

What You’ll Bring to The House

  • 10+ years demonstrated experience bringing brands to life across online and offline channels
  • Superlative storytelling—you expertly create new multimedia brand narratives
  • A singular vision for choreographing typography, photography, illustration, and voice in service of the larger brand strategy you shape
  • A human-centered approach to design; you love thinking about both the big picture vision and the smallest design details of a brand experience.
  • Comfort working across the entire process—from user research to synthesis and strategy development, brainstorming and ideation, concept work, art direction, execution and implementation.
  • A fresh perspective on how to build community through design
  • Strong visual design skills and ability to design within, and help define, brand guidelines.
  • You’re deeply curious about how to empower neighbors to strengthen their communities, and about what makes neighborhoods tick around the globe as we expand our footprint.
