Tonal is looking for someone passionate about developing innovative products. From concept, prototyping, test, and iteration through to high volume production.

You will work on the hardware team developing new products that combine complex mechanical and electronic systems. You will develop and provide design support for new mechanical and electromechanical components.  Our team offers a unique opportunity to define a new category and build experiences with a variety of technologies and manufacturing processes.

What You Will Do

Develop mechanical parts and systems

Develop new products and partner with manufacturing teams to support existing product lines

Work closely with US-based mechanical engineers on key NPI support

Own sub-systems and partnerships with suppliers and CMs

Work across groups to understand context, goals, and constraints

Plan and lead supplier development projects

Collaborate with local and remote Quality and Reliability teams to ensure new products meet Tonal standards

Assess new vendor capabilities and manufacturing processes in support of new development projects

Lead ongoing quality and cost improvements by working closely with manufacturers

Expected domestic travel plus US and China

Who You Are

Mechanical engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience

BS, Mechanical Engineering

Product design and development experience

Experience working for an EU or North American company with manufacturing partners in Asia or working at a CM or ODM with EU or North American customers.

Expertise in part/assembly development, 3D modeling (we use Solidworks)

Experience with a variety of materials and manufacturing technologies

Collaborative style and able to navigate through a growing organization

Strong oral and written communication skills, English and Chinese

Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Hands-on problem solver
