How we are protecting employees from COVID-19
At Imperfect Foods, employee health and safety is our top priority. We have implemented processes and precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities. We provide gloves, masks, and hand sanitizer to all essential employees who must report to work. Before entering our warehouse, employees have their temperatures checked. In addition, we take great care to ensure frequently touched surfaces are sanitized throughout the day and all warehouses are fully sanitized weekly.
We have also implemented an Emergency Sick Leave policy providing full-time and part-time employees 2 additional weeks of paid time off and up to 26 weeks paid leave if they have a confirmed case of COVID-19.
About the Role:
Imperfect is expanding quickly, and we’re seeking a VP of Central Operations to be a strategic partner to our COO and executive team. The VP of Central Operations will be responsible for ensuring the processes and operations of our growing company are running efficiently and best in class.  The ideal candidate will have a track record of building and scaling effective operations and have experience in implementing advanced operations technologies and automation in a hyper-growth company.  If you're passionate about fighting food waste and building iconic and disruptive brands, we'd love to talk!


    • Leads the planning, organizing, directing, and implementation of operational improvements - processes, hardware, & software required for grocery warehouse operations; this will include the identification, development, and implementation of world-class systems, practices, and procedures to increase the efficient utilization, thereby enhancing capabilities
    • Partner with executive leadership to translate strategies and financial plans into short-term, medium-term, and long-term capacity plans and headcount needs across pack centers and line-hauls
    • Evaluate available technologies and production processes that can be practically implemented to maximize production efficiency, accuracy, and productivity
    • Strategically balance automation choices and fixed, semi-fixed, and variable production cost tradeoffs to meet the cyclical demands of our business
    • Support Regional VPs and Directors in continuously improving the production environment, maximizing accuracy, productivity, and safety throughout
    • Partner with executive leadership to define technology requirements for Operations that result in reliable, precise and efficient processes
    • Partner with executive leadership to adapt operational processes and technologies to support an expanding and ever-changing assortment
    • Partner with executive leadership to build and provide powerful analytical platforms and tools for Operations
    • Own key transformation projects in Operations, including the implementation of a WMS, materials handling systems, workforce management systems, asset protection, etc
    • Define, track, and ensure compliance with industry-leading health and safety standards across site sanitation, safe working conditions, and accident reduction
    • Manage and optimize the company’s operational assets, including leases for pack centers and line-hauls
    • Own key business development projects including migrating pack centers, expanding into new geographic regions and implementing new business models
    • Partner with executive leadership to build and deploy an effective frontline employee communications platform, including onboarding, training, workforce management, messaging and employee services

Skills and Qualifications:

    • You have proven strength in coaching people and building high-performing teams
    • You effectively influence colleagues across operations, technology, merchandising, and HR to implement key initiatives
    • You can comfortably switch from digging deeply operational details to constructing transformative ideas 
    • You have 12+ years of experience in Operations, with 3+ years of Senior Leadership experience, experience in food and online grocery preferred
    • You’ve mastered continuous improvement and innovation techniques, including but not limited to, six sigma, lean-agile, and fast prototyping

Details of the Position:

    • Full-time exempt position reporting remotely to the COO
    • Based out of our Northlake, IL facility
    • Salary and employee stock options commensurate with experience

    • Domestic travel to new and existing facilities required as needed

Physical Requirements:

    • Sedentary work; involves sitting most of the time
    • Occasional movement around the office may be necessary
