Senior Software ETL Engineer at Anaplan
San Francisco, CA, US

Anaplan is looking for a SENIOR SOFTWARE ETL ENGINEER to join our growing team in SAN FRANCISCO and contribute as a member of the Global Engineering organization located in San Francisco, Minneapolis, London and York, UK.

As a software ETL engineer, you will be a part of a team of engineers working on our next generation data platform. You'll be making business data and capabilities accessible via our connectors in leading ETL platforms that are used to support decision making for internal and external customers. Anaplan is a business critical, tier-1 system that must be highly available with low latency, despite complexity and scale. The mission of the Data Integration team is to make it fast and easy for our customers to access, connect and analyze enterprise data to improve business processes, accelerate decision-making, and drive better business outcomes. As a member of the team, you’ll  have a big impact on delivering customer value in the data integration and platform extension space. Additionally, the central nature of this team means high visibility, with plenty of opportunities to grow and learn.

For this role, the ideal candidate has a solid background in Java development as well as experience and strong interest in data integration and ETL tooling.

We create and support connectors on multiple platforms - currently our portfolio includes Informatica, Mulesoft, Dell Boomi, Snaplogic, Power BI and Tableau. Given this variation of data connectors, you must be comfortable quickly picking up new programming languages, platforms and tooling. We're looking for someone who's excited to solve challenging problems at scale while delivering new capabilities to our rapidly growing number of customers. If you value writing sustainable, resilient code to ensure that our customers' experience is the very best it can be and you want to help foster a collaborative, inclusive, creative, authentic, tenacious culture— this is the place for you!

In this role you will:

  • Build, test and deliver resilient data connectors using leading ETL platforms to support data integration and ingestion.
  • Take ownership of multiple data integration solutions.
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of product functionality that service large amounts of data and traffic.
  • Write code that is high-quality, performant, sustainable and testable while holding yourself accountable for the quality of the code you produce.
  • Coach and collaborate inside and outside the team. You can offer meaningful perspectives on integration design patterns, concepts, alternatives and best practices.
  • Work in a hybrid cloud infrastructure, considering the implementation of functionality through several distributed components and services.
  • Work closely with our stakeholders and external partners to translate product goals into actionable engineering plans.

You have:

  • A strong background in Java development
  • Experience with one or more of the mentioned ETL tools (Informatica, Mulesoft, Dell Boomi, Snaplogic, Power BI and Tableau).
  • A strong background in fostering a culture of continuous delivery, test automation and agile development.
  • Proficiency in using REST APIs or similar for data integration.
  • A deep understanding of the value of testing to deliver a high-quality product.
  • Experience working in production with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
  • Working knowledge of containers and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience working closely with product management and UX teams to deliver the best solution to the problem at hand.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills - you are pragmatic and know how to build trust.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus if you also have:

  • Experience with building observability into services to track usage and health (Splunk, ELK stack, SignalFX)

What we offer:

  • A rewarding, progressive career with a company that values diversity, flexibility and understands the need for a good work/life balance.
  • Market-leading salaries combined with generous bonuses, equity and a range of comprehensive benefits.
  • Regular agile meetups, events and hackathons (both attending and hosting!)
  • Flexible working, catered lunches, a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of parties and events.
  • A range of sports, health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • 3 days of paid leave every year to help support the charity or cause of your choice.
  • Huge problems to solve –you will constantly be learning and pushing boundaries, working with some of the smartest people around!
